Humana Europe was established to offer commissioning services and support to Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in the NHS in England, in response to a formal tender issued by the Department of Health in 2006 seeking to create a framework for commissioning. We are a clinician-led organisation with expertise in health service design, data and knowledge management, contracting, performance management, communications and engagement, and motivational programmes that promote healthy behaviour.

If your PCT chooses to work with Humana, we will support their teams in ensuring the effective provision of services to your local population.

When working with your PCT, Humana will look at ways to improve support for you in the delivery of patient care. We believe that only by supporting those on the frontline of patient care can a PCT deliver excellent services. This means supporting you in the delivery and leveraging of existing best practice and also identifying and removing any barriers to care that you face. We understand from our research that the provision of better information, more efficient management of overly bureaucratic systems, and the removal of communication barriers are key factors that need to be addressed.

Working in partnership with GPs

Humana understands the unique pressures placed on GPs, and will work with you to understand the needs of your registered patients and the specific demands they place on your own GP practice.

Through Practice Based Commissioning, we will give you the freedom, flexibility, and incentives to reconfigure and improve services in response to the needs of your patients and national priorities. In our drive towards efficiency, we will keep bureaucracy to a minimum, and give you the guidance, information, support, resources and tools you need to deliver improvements in care for your patients.

Underpinning our activity is a firm belief that data is at the heart of effective commissioning. We believe that the key to integrated healthcare is integrated data. As experts in this field, we will enable better use of your existing data and help you to improve the quality of the data you capture. And by providing the practical infrastructure to regularly and systematically check risk factors and highlight opportunities for preventative action, we will help you to reduce the burden of illness in your local community and restore the traditional relationship between GPs and patients.
